The Mission of the virtual Oratory is to be an open contemplative community offering prayer and hospitality to anyone seeking God.
The patron saint of joy gathered people around him in Rome when he was lay person. He was ordained to serve but the organization remained more of a movement meeting at a place to pray...an oratory...until it grew to size that alarmed the authorities so members of the group were ordained into a Congregation of brothers and priests who serve it. Philip would not allow oaths, promises or vows. We live as an open contemplative community without cloister, without vows, and virtually at the mercy of the Holy Spirit.
